Character of the Day
Chinese characters have evolved over the past 5000 years. Some are pictographs showing – with a bit of imagination – what the character means. Others share components or radicals that give a clue as to what they mean and/or sound like. All are fun to learn!
In this Character of the Day section, you will find, each day and for 5 days a week, the main characters in the Chinese language, starting with the most basic ones and progressively building up. For each character, you will find their pinyin*, an audio file with the sound of the character, and examples how the character is commonly used.
On a regular basis, we will introduce a fun quiz to test the student’s learning.
